There are a multitude of websites about Multiple Sclerosis on the internet, this is a wonderful thing, because, you see when you have MS, most of the so called expert information, is compiled by those who really don't know what it's like to have MS. It's like anything in life, you don't really know what it's like unless you have experienced it.

The Diagnosis (DX) Symptoms

When you get the diagnosis, you get the standard MS pack from your MS society in your country or state. After you have read the info, you can pretty much consider yourself an expert. The one thing the standard MS info pack can't achieve is tell you what number in the symptom lottery you have been lucky enough to have had selected for you.(sarcasm here).

This is why I say it's a wonderful thing with so many great sites about MS. MS symptoms can be fairly individual with each person having a different combination of symptoms, this makes it very difficult for anybody to compose the definitive Multiple Sclerosis guide. Note: I can't and will not blame anyone for this they do their best. Though input by MS'ers doesn't seem to be considered.

Neurology

Most neurologists will admit to knowing very little except what they get from the standard MS spiel in text books and medical journals. The fact is there is no cure and the medical community can only do so much, but of course that doesn't answer the ever present question all MS sufferers have "WHY ME?".

The Best Source Of MS Information

The Standard MS Info Packs can be, well, I will just say it, the word patronizing comes to mind. After having one or three of the symptoms and one fairly severe exacerbation, it really did make me wonder if people with MS had any input at all. The fact is they don't really explain much other than the known symptoms that can be seen by anyone, you dont need a medical degree to see the transformation of a person quite able one day and in a wheelchair the next. The emotions, feelings and state of mind aren't covered much at all hence the unlikelyhood of input by MS'ers.

Online & local support groups are the very best source of the information you will no doubt crave some day. These weird feelings you get when you have MS can only be explained by another MSer well at least verified that you aren't going crazy if i wasn't online I would be at my G.P's everyday I might well have enquired as to the availabilty of booking a room. It's just nice to know you aren't crazy or the only one to have that feeling or that symptom.
